Celebrities and Science 2009

The excellent charity Sense About Science has just published Celebrities and Science 2009. This is a personal highlight of the end of the year.  It picks up on some of the daft things that celebrities have said during the year on subjects that are way out of their competence e.g. Roger Moore saying the eating Foie Gras gives you Alzheimer’s.  Ever since Juliet Stevenson (a favourite actress of mine) got involved in MMR I have been impressed and concerned about the ability of celebrities to us their influence to misunderstand and mislead.  I now think that celebrities should stop using their influence, even for causes I believe in.  It is just too dangerous. The sad truth is that there is zero correlation between acting or other entertainment skills and being astute about science, politics or most other spheres. Just look at Tom Cruise.

I go to see each day some web sites and sites to read articles or reviews, but this website provides feature based writing.
